I just spent a great Father’s Day with my wife and daughter, my 2 favorite people on earth, which made me realize how lucky I am… and how much I love spending my Sundays like this! This got me thinking about what is really important to me in my life, and what motivates me to improve myself and grow as a person, as well as with my business.

I recently attended a weekend seminar for business and personal development, and one of the exercises they had us do to help us become more motivated and focused on our goals was to put together a short “Why” video. My WHY video is a collection of images that remind me of what is important to me in my life… what inspires me and drives me to do what I do, and to grow personally and professionally. This is my WHY video… let me know what you think:

Whenever I lose my focus or feel overwhelmed or lazy, I can watch this video to get my mind back on track and get inspired. It was an interesting exercise… if you like the idea I encourage you to make one for yourself. If you do, I’d like to see it! If you don’t mind sharing your inspiration with others, I invite you to upload it to YouTube and leave a comment below this post with a link to your video. I think you will find it will be a source of motivation for others as well as yourself.

When you can find something that you are really passionate about… something that gets you out of bed in the morning excited to start your day, it can be an incredible motivator to accomplish great things in your life. By focusing on that passion of yours, your “WHY”, you can find the inspiration to pursue bigger goals, and the motivation to improve yourself. It can give you the energy to train harder and the ‘hunger’ to eat healthier. It makes the challenges seem small.

Here’s another very motivational video I discovered which I found quite powerful… this really put things in perspective when I consider the relatively minor challenges I confront in my own life:

That’s the power of having a strong “WHY”. That’s the difference between being extrinsically motivated (by something outside you, ie: money, your boss, etc) versus intrinsically motivated, or ‘inspired’. That’s what can make you ‘unstoppable’. I hope you’ve found your passion and I wish you great success with your goals and ambitions! We get back to basic training next week with some exercise tutorials, so watch for that.
And to all the other Dads out there, Happy Father’s Day!

Stay Hungry,

Josh
